Jennifer & Tony — Minted

Jennifer

and

Tony

Wedding Party

Stephen Chen

Groomsman in absentia

Even though Tony and Stephen went to the same law school, they didn't meet each other in law school.  They actually met through partying after Stephen had graduated from law school through a mutual friend, Tin.  Those were the good ole days - going to exchange/asian clubbing, 2-3AM BCD, insane 3-4 night Vegas trips, Coachella, EDC, and other "music festivals".  Even though that life is now far behind them, Tony and Stephen continued to work together professionally and helped lots of people going through the most difficult times in their lives.

Stephen is forever thankful for all that Tony has brought to his practice and is glad that he has found success as an attorney by continuing to make a meaningful difference in people's lives.

Matthew Dang

Groomsman

Matthew feels like he has known Jennifer his whole life. Once when he was a toddler, he fell head first into a fountain and was saved by his older sister. He owes his life to her, which is why Matthew forgave Jennifer for accidentally closing the car window on his finger. Matthew and Tony have recently gotten to know each other very well. Matthew helped Tony coordinate a breakfast at John O'Groats with his parents so that he could ask for Jennifer's hand in marriage. He knew that Tony was nervous because he could hear him whisper to himself before each sentence. He very much enjoyed the breakfast and thought the pancakes he ordered were delicious. Now he welcomes Tony to the Dang family with open arms and looks forward to many more family events together.

Danielle Gacutan

bridesmaid in absentia

Jennifer and Danielle met during Optometry school. They were not just classmates but also a part of the Yelp Elite Squad and attended their first Elite Event together. After finishing residency, Jennifer and Danielle moved back to the LA area and their friendship grew. Whether they were checking in with each other for Bikini Body guide workouts, or sharing their newest addition to their Disney Tsum Tsum collections, or creating memories at Coachella together, lots of laughs and fun times have been shared over the last 11 years.

Stephanie Huang

Bridesmaid

Steph and Jen met while sitting on yellow numbered dots painted onto the asphalt during their first 6th grade PE class. They've been through many of life's ups and downs over the past 20+ years, including braces, difficult AP classes, school dances, first (and successive) boyfriends, first (and successive) breakups, going to college, going to grad school (Jen made the better in choice in optometry over Steph's choice to study law), moving back home with their parents, and eventually celebrating professional life as "full fledged adults". Steph was even once a patient of Jen's and has nothing but the highest praises for Dr. Dang! Steph spent most of her post high-school life in the Bay Area, and now lives in Texas, while Jen remained ever faithful to LA; but they always made sure to see each other (or at least exchange gifts) for July birthdays and Christmas. Steph is so excited for Jen and Tony to start their lives together and is very happy to be able to support them on their special day.

Richard Kong

Best Man

It was a warm June evening in Hollywood when Tony and Rich first became acquainted by their love for living in the night. We were outside of Colony Night Club and it was one of Rich's first nights working the lines. Rich had just started as a host and didn't know many people, but was enthusiastic nonetheless. Most would've been intimidated by his eagerness, however Tony fully embraced him and showed him the (velvet) ropes. From the get go, they became great pals, connecting over our mutual interests of football, concerts, cigars, and many other profitable ventures.

Tony and Rich have two sides to to their relationship. On one hand, they are very close and supportive of each other. On the other hand, they are bitter rivals who often times get into arguments. This is due largely to Richard's poor judgment regarding which NFL team and Quarterback to support. They get upset with one another, and generally make each other feel bad. But once they see each other outside their fantasy league, they're still the best of buds.

Jennifer Lai

Bridesmaid

Even though Jennifer Lai is 15 months younger (though most of our family and friends think it’s the other way around) she is much like Tony's twin and roommate for 30 years (Jennifer’s entire life except for Tony’s 4 years at undergrad). From Tae Kwon Do, Piano lessons, horseback riding as kids, to the track and field team at Hart High School, hospital volunteers, camp counselors, and co-chairs of the HOA board – they have shared in many of the best and worst of life’s achievements and tribulations (though many of these tribulations were caused by Tony, himself). After three decades of cleaning up the wake of Tony’s activities, Jennifer Lai is pleased to hand the reigns to the much more capable Jennifer Dang. Best of luck, JD!

Tin Le

Groomsman

Tin and Tony disagree about where and how they met each other but can agree on when: 2008. Maybe 2009. Anyways, Tin and Tony met sometime during their first year in law school more than 10 years ago and have become the best of friends since. Tin and Tony grew close during law school because while everyone else was studying, they would go clubbing, even if no one else was down and it was just them two. Tin cherishes those clubbing days with Tony, even though Tin admittedly can't really remember them, and appreciates that Tony has always been there for him no matter what, whether it was for clubbing back in the day, to now helping Tin out daily by answering his never ending questions about the law. Tin is honored to be a part of Jennifer and Tony's big day and will surely remember this one.

Anne Lee

Bridesmaid

Jennifer and Anne had a chance encounter at a house party during college at UCLA, where Anne made a dry comment about Jennifer’s sweater. Despite the false start, they were able to reconnect in optometry school, and Anne was much more complimentary of Jennifer’s clothing choices from then on. Jennifer introduced her to EDM music and concerts, the art of costume making for EDC, and the importance of always wearing heels when out on the town. They lived and worked in Las Vegas for a year for residency together, stressing about clinic together during the week, and partying and eating delicious food on the weekends. Over the last decade, their friendship has weathered a storm or two, but they’ve nonetheless enjoyed so many sunny days together. Anne is ecstatic to be part of Jennifer and Tony’s big day!

Erin Morioka

Matron of Honor

Erin and Jen met at PMS (Palms Middle School) back in ‘97. They have memories of everything from singing No Scrubs at karaoke to riding ATVs in Hawaii after high school graduation. Since then, they’ve stayed close through the ups and downs of grad school, living with roommates, and online dating. Erin is honored to be Jen’s MOH as she takes this next big step in her life’s journey!

Jenny Park

bridesmaid in absentia

Having first connected on a roommates wanted group of their optometry school’s Facebook page in 2009, Jennifer and Jenny began an easy and instant friendship and stayed roommates for the remainder of grad school. This meant commiserating over countless all-nighters, driving around town at midnight for coffee and snacks to fuel said all-nighters, attending hot yoga classes to burn off the snack runs, cooking and Marie Kondo-ing the space together (before it was a thing), and celebrating milestones in Vegas, Hollywood, OC, and LA. These days, they live five miles apart, meaning a ten to thirty minute drive (post vs. pre-quarantine) and love getting together for concerts, holidays, game nights, brunches, and happy hours.

Taylor Steinbacher

Groomsman

By happenstance, Tony and Taylor sat next to each other on the first day of law school and have been friends ever since. Their adventures have included countless trips to Los Angeles Kings hockey games and a spring break trip to Vegas in which Taylor taught Tony how to play craps. Tony graciously agreed to be a groomsman in Taylor's wedding and now Taylor is more than happy to return the favor.

Eddie Sun

Officiant

Tony and Pastor Eddie Sun met at a volunteer legal clinic for the Southern California Chinese Lawyers Association. At first, Tony didn't realize that Eddie was a pastor, because they were both volunteering as a pro bono attorneys. Tony was advising litigants on Family Law questions, and Eddie was helping people with their Immigration questions. In passing Tony mentioned that he was getting married and Pastor Eddie said that he had just officiated a wedding. Pastor Eddie told Tony that he was the Young Adult Advisor at the Evangelical Formosan Church of Los Angeles, the church that Tony used to go to with his parents as a child. Since then, both Jennifer and Tony have been regulars at the young adult ministry at EFCLA and are thrilled to have Eddie as their officiant for their wedding.
